NON-THESIS OPTION
I. Core Courses (6 hours)
A. GEOG 5014
B. One from GEOG 4314, 4354, 5034, or 5314
II. Research Project (3 hours)
GEOG 5904
III. "Other" (minimum of 21 hours)
5000-level courses. You must take a minimum of 21 hours at the 5000 level. Geog 5904: Project & Report and the Core Courses noted above taken at the 5000 level count towards the 21 hours. To satisfy the remaining required hours at the 5000 level, you must take courses as follows:

5000-level geography courses (minimum of 6 hours)
- 5000-level cognate courses (minimum of 3 hours)
A. 4000-level courses. You can take a maximum of 9 hours at the 4000 level for the MS in the non-thesis option. If you take 3 hours at the 4000 level to satisfy the core requirements noted above, then you can take a total of only 6 other hours at the 4000 level from the following:
- 4000-level geography courses
- 4000-level cognate courses (maximum of 3 hours)
TOTAL GRADUATE CREDITS: 30 minimum
Non-thesis option students must also take a comprehensive written exam after completion of coursework.
Note: For students who lack adequate knowledge of geographic concepts, the department may require such students to enroll in one or more introductory-level geography classes or obtain basic proficiency through other means.
